St.
Gertrude the Great, having sympathy for the holy souls in Purgatory, had a
vision of Jesus, where He gave her the grace of a special prayer to assist
holy souls into Heaven. Each time it is prayed, 1000 souls would be released
from Purgatory. The prayer also extends to living sinners as well.
